1. The site
What this site is
LLC Comparison helps people who are forming an LLC choose between formation services. We read the pricing pages, price the same standard order at each provider, and publish what we find: the cost, the renewal terms and the cons.
The state sets the filing fee. A formation service sells speed, a registered agent and paperwork. Whether that is worth paying for depends on your state, the size of the business and how much of the work you want to do yourself. Our job is to make that comparison easy to check.
2. Content
What we publish
Four kinds of article, each with a fixed structure so you always know where to look for the cons.
-
One provider in depth: the price, what each tier includes, the renewal price and the cons.
-
Ranked lists with a clear top pick and the scores behind it.
-
Two providers set against each other on pricing, registered agent, turnaround and support.
-
Step-by-step walkthroughs of forming an LLC by state, naming the providers worth considering at the step where they matter.
3. Editorial standards
Four rules we work to
-
One method for every provider
Every provider is priced and scored with the same published methodology. Nobody gets a different rubric.
-
Cons are not optional
Every provider is listed with its cons. A review that has none is not published.
-
Figures have sources
Fees come from state filing offices and prices from provider pages. A figure we cannot source is not printed.
-
Errors are corrected in the open
When we correct a mistake that changes a score or a ranking, we say so on the page rather than quietly editing it.
4. Funding
How we make money
We earn a commission when a reader buys a formation service through a link on this site. That is the only way the site is paid for. Links that earn us a commission are marked as sponsored in the page code, and every page that carries them has a disclosure above the first link.
Commission rates are not an input to any score. Providers cannot pay for placement, a higher score or the removal of a con.
Where this could bias us
Every provider we currently recommend pays us a commission. That is why the methodology is public and why cons are mandatory: so you can check our reasoning instead of trusting it.
5. Limits
What we are not
We are not a law firm, an accounting firm or a registered agent. Nothing on this site is legal, tax or financial advice, and reading it does not create an attorney-client relationship. For questions about your own situation, ask a licensed attorney or CPA in your state.
Found an error? Use the contact form with the page address and the figure you think is wrong. We check it against the source and fix it.
